Everybody loves the holidays!
Holidays, celebrating, eating, drinking and partying all go hand in
hand. Whether you are celebrating at family gatherings, work
parties, or dining out with friends, alcohol is often a part of your
festive holiday celebrations. More often than not, people tend to
drink more during the holiday season than they typically would do any
other time of year. With that said, we here at Short Mountain
Distillery, want to tell all our clients and friends to drink
responsibly this holiday season so as to avoid any unfortunate
occurrences.
The holiday period from Thanksgiving
Eve right on out to New Year’s Day typically transforms the average
social drinker into a somewhat heavier drinker. People tend to be in
much more of a festive party mood and for many, that means
socializing more and indulging in more alcoholic drinks to celebrate
the holidays with family and friends.
Keeping in mind that when you consume
more drinks than your body is typically used to, there is a tendency
to create embarrassing situations, cause damage to your body, and
even result in drunk driving. Statistics have proven that
alcohol-related accidents are the primary cause of death during the
holiday season, more so than any other time of the year. While
celebrating with family and friends, it is easy to misjudge the
effects alcohol can have on you and how long those effects can last.
Many times people believe that they are clear headed and sober enough
to drive if they stop drinking and indulge in a cup of coffee before
heading out.
However, the reality is that even after
you stop drinking the alcohol remains in your bloodstream, thereby
potentially impacting your brain for several more hours. Whether you
are attending a party or hosting a holiday party it is important to
take appropriate steps to ensure not only your own safety and well
being but that of others around you as well.
Tips for Hosting a Safe Holiday
Party
If you are planning to host your own
holiday party, we here at Short Mountain Distillery suggest you try
the following.
Begin by offering a variety of
non-alcoholic beverages that are easily accessible and in sight for
all your guests to see and enjoy. Do not hand your arriving guests
an alcoholic drink, but rather give them ample time to get acquainted
and comfortable and choose their own beverage, whether alcoholic or
non-alcoholic. Be certain that you have snacks and finger foods
readily available for consumption, which ensures that your guests are
not drinking on an empty stomach. Keep a close watch out for any
guests that have had far too much to drink and be certain that they
have a designated driver who can drive them home.
Holidays are truly all about family and
friends and sharing enjoyable times and memories with your loved
ones. Alcohol can certainly be a part of those celebrations, but
again we here at Short Mountain Distillery want all our ‘family”
members to drink responsibly and stay safe. There is no time of
year quite as festive and filled with celebration as the Thanksgiving
and Christmas seasons. With that said, we hope all our clients will
take whatever steps are necessary this holiday season to keep not
only themselves safe and healthy, but keep the lives of others around
you safe and healthy as well. We all love to socialize and share
cocktails and drinks in celebration of the holidays, but it’s
important to know your limit. Be smart, be wise, be practical and be
safe this holiday season. Drink Responsibly. From our little family
here at Short Mountain Distillery to your family – may your holiday
season be blessed, safe and happy!!
